Yatsuhashi also known as Nama Yatsuhashi. It’s made using sugar, cinnamon, and glutinous rice flour and is frequently folded into a triangle form. Yatsuhashi is a favourite memento for tourists to Kyoto, representing the city’s culinary charm, and can be savoured raw or baked.

Baked Yatsuhashi

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  2. 1/4 cup sugar
  3. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  4. 1/3 cup water
  5. Cornstarch for dusting

Procedure

  1. Adjust the oven temperature to 350°F (180°C) and place parchment paper on a baking pan.
  2. Glutinous rice flour, sugar, and ground cinnamon should all be combined in a bowl.
  3. Mixing constantly, gradually add water to the dry ingredients until a homogeneous, sticky dough forms.
  4. Use cornflour to dust a clean surface to keep it from adhering. Roll the dough into a rectangle that is thin.
  5. Slice the dough into more manageable squares or rectangles.
  6. After cutting the pieces, place them on the baking sheet that has been prepared. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges start to brown.
  7. Take them out of the oven and allow them to cool fully. The cooked Yatsuhashi will crisp up as they cool.

chocolate Yatsuhashi
